Mosquitoes in the City

By Faissal Al Zowaydy
Translated By:Hassan hegazy
..
Burdened with his weakness and silence , "Al Oubedee" stood wearily in front of the mirror, like every day he looks carefully observing the effects of a new disease and an increasing fade all over a weak fainted face ,asking who stands in front of him :"when will all this be over ?"he does not answer him , but he goes on observing wakefulness still on its spreading on a feeble; face ..coming near the only window in his room chasing a small simple ray of the sun that hardly enters his room , a bottle of insecticide took his attention , he remembered that it was finished yesterday after a lost battle with mosquitoes …his fronts were broken against undefeated attacks ..he preferred reconciliation for offering his blood .. every night he was called to a meal on his body , every night his resistance was broken by its armies , sometimes he talks to himself that he preferred some mosquitoes and the rest must be worried about his absence and was afraid of being complained in courts , and the sucking of blood becomes like addiction that he could not live without it ,..exactly when the breathing of pure air harming and exhausting our lungs ..he hardly heard buzzing he knows them well , it was flying alone but can hardly be seen ,he asked seriously : what is the benefit of her optical…..digesting and …the reproductive systems ..?he soon repented ..

The Mosquito came very near and its buzzing became louder and louder as if it were the roar of a plane .waving with his hand without knowing its exact place but he felt a sharp bite in his Occiput, his hand moved quickly there and his voice got high with curse ..another bite in his arm and third in the leg ..his two palms quickly followed the mosquitoes all over his body .. he felt more pain, he looked at himself in the mirror and saw a body .

He descried a mosquito behind him and it distended a bit little he got afraid ..God ! how it got bigger like that ?but the tragedy of "Al Oubedee" was only in the beginning, the mosquito the more it sucked more of his blood, the more it grew bigger and bigger ..it became as a size of a cat , he was not able to raise his hand even to protect his face . his movements grew slower and slower , the heavy mosquito fell on his shoulder and kept on harming him . he began to totter , he could no longer bear that any more ,he tried to flounce and tremble to get rid of the weight but it Persisted on sticking to him more ,he tried to cry calling for help but nothing went out from him but soundless murmuring , he tried to withdraw sharply on to the wall
To smash it but the roguish mosquito turned forward and lied on his chest and he hardly could speak , his murmurs began to fade away gradually and the damned Mosquito was still getting bigger and bigger and moving on his body ,he felt its legs pressing tightly on his neck with strange malevolence , then it put its wings on his mouth ,he was no longer able to cry , on his eyes not to see , on his ears not to hear ..then he fell down on the ground unconsciously .

that night the mosquitoes left their hidden places looking for meals as usual ..they searched every where for long in narrow streets , houses , and even palaces but in vain ..the enlarged Mosquitoes had used up all human beings every where .
